City Park and Saints Unite for Pan American Stadium Upgrades Ahead of 2024 Season

NEW ORLEANS – City Park Conservancy (CPC), collaborating with the New Orleans Saints, initiated weekend upgrades to Pan American Stadium, an essential venue for numerous student and adult athletes annually.

Last week, CPC and the City Park Improvement Association (CPIA) greenlit the renovation plan during their board meetings. The comprehensive upgrades, set to occur in phases, will total $3.1 million, covered by diverse funding sources, including a significant donation from the New Orleans Saints, FEMA, and private donors.

Renovations include extermination of outdated turf, installation of new goal posts, netting, a PA system, and a scoreboard from the Saints. Additional support, training, and tools will be provided to ensure proper facility maintenance. These upgrades are expected to conclude before the 2024 High School football season starts on September 5, 2024.

“Pan American Stadium services over 30 high schools and professional sports like football, soccer, lacrosse, and rugby programs offered by the New Orleans area. These facilities provide a vital arena for athletes to hone their skills,” stated Rebecca Dietz, President and CEO of CPC. Beyond refurbishing the field for significant usage, this effort marks the first step in a broader Pan Am Stadium project aimed at modernizing the historic New Orleans facility.
