The NFL mourns the loss of an iconic defensive mind known for his lasting impact on the league, Monte Kiffin. Kiffin’s career spanned several decades, during which he established himself as a prominent figure, particularly with the New Orleans Saints and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Kiffin, known for his innovative defensive strategies, especially the Tampa 2 scheme, revolutionized the way defense was played and coached in the NFL. His philosophy and approach left a significant mark and influenced many coaches and players who came after him.

His coaching journey began with the Saints in 1975, quickly making his mark and building a reputation that would follow him throughout his career. His tenure with the Buccaneers was particularly notable, leading one of the toughest defenses in league history to success, including a Super Bowl win.
