Highlighting the Hype on New Orleans in 2018 with our TOP 5 Local Success Stories

RIDING THE WAVE OF THE SUCCESSFUL NEW ORLEANS CREATIVE COMMUNITY IN 2018:

With 2018 coming to an end, we wanted to take the chance to highlight some of our colleagues on their growth and success for the year. Ranging from video specialists to nail stylists to promoters, we tried venture out and mix it up. Putting truth to power, these individuals and/or businesses below prove that with hard work comes growth.

Check out our Top 5 below:

#1 FREEWATER STUDIOS: Video and Production Services

THE WAVE IS ALWAYS FREE… Reigning in #1 on our Top 5 is FREEWATER STUDIOS. Known for throwing some of the hottest parties in the city, Freewater provides much more than just a good time. With the grand opening of their storefront this year, Freewater represents the creative community within New Orleans. They provide video and photo services to some of the hottest artists in the New Orleans area. Ran by a collective group of visual artists, they’re always coming out with fresh merchandise that everyone wants in on (and if you’re a female, will get you in free at any of their events). Get to the FREEWATER website NOW.

#2 DOMINIC SCOTT: Visual Artist

Only 20 years old, Dominic Scott is one we cannot get our eyes off of. Always on the grind, Dominic Scott’s visual mind is crazy. He is a Visual Artist (photography, videography) with an admiration for vivid colors, people, and emotion. Really though, his colors are crazy and bring so much life to his photos and videos. Known for shooting a lot of the local artists videos in New Orleans, Dominic’s also worked with some bigger names like J. Cole and PJ Morton, as well as brands like B.L.V.D. Etiquette and The Loyalty Club. He was awarded “Best Director” at this year’s First Annual Baller Blockin Music Video Awards.

#3 MORGAN WALKER: Creative Mogul and Promoter

‘CREATOR, Mogul in Making a Platform for Anything Great,’ she says. With a degree from Dillard University, Morgan’s been creating waves since the start. Since building her brand Morgan Walker Productions, this young entrepreneur is the connector to all of the fliest events around the city. With New Orleans on a rise, it’s important to highlight the behind the scenes peeps that bring the hype to life on upcoming events, and even bring to life the events herself. Check out her upcoming event Spades-O-Ween here, set to talk place Halloween night.

#4 ASVPNAILBAR: Victoria Nguyen: Nail Artist and Influencer

Making her rounds in New Orleans and its surrounding areas, Entrepreneur and Nail Artist and Victoria Nguyen is all business. Taking a different approach to this Top 5, we wanted to shed light on the successes of small businesses, including nail technicians. Specializing in Full Sets, the colors and graphics she is able to create on nails puts her right into the category of our creative community. Outside of the Full Sets, Victoria provides basic nail services as well. Follow Victoria and her business ASVP Nails on Instagram or schedule your next appointment with her here. Besides, no point in showing up to that Freewater party if ya nails not done.

#5 ELEMENT BEVERAGE CO. BY CHANNEL DEV: Entrepreneur/ Small Business

Although previously covered on Newtral Groundz, we couldn’t resist including Young Entrepreneur Channel Dev and his ever successful beverage company Element. Only recently out of high school, this youngin’s waves are getting too big. With his recent successes in getting Element on the shelves in New Orlean’s Airport and the long standing Manchu, he is a great influence to all young moguls. Channel Dev’s ultimate goal is to team with Coca Cola and have his pineapple lemonade as an official coke product. Learn more about Element here, or look for it on the shelves at various businesses around the city including Conceco’s, Manchu’s, Morrow’s, We Dat’s, and more.

Be sure to let us know who YOU think should be on our Top 5 Success Stories!
