Singer/songwriter Frank Ocean grew up in New Orleans, LA.

Frank Ocean was born Christopher Edwin Breaux, in Long Beach, California. He and his family moved to New Orleans when he was five years old. He graduated from John Ehret High School in Marrero. 

The aspiring songwriter and singer had just moved into his dorm at the University of New Orleans when Hurricane Katrina hit. Shortly after the hurricane he would pack up his things and  move to Los Angeles,California to follow his dreams. 

He cut some demos at a friend’s home studio, shopped them around town, and eventually landed a songwriting deal that led to work for Justin Bieber, John Legend and Brandy.That eventually led him to sign a solo artist deal with Def Jam in late 2009. 

Ocean’s debut studio album Channel Orange (2012) was one of the most acclaimed albums. It Best Urban Contemporary Album won at the 2013 Grammy Awards.
