Benefit concert to feature local music icons and student performers on April 29
New Orleans, LA (April 21, 2026 – The Roots of Music (Roots) will host Roots Fest 2026 on Wednesday, April 29 from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm on its new campus, bringing together an exciting evening of live music, culture, and community in support of its free youth programs.
Roots Fest will feature performances by The Roots of Music Marching Crusaders and All-Star Studio Band, alongside an exciting lineup of acclaimed local artists, including:
Several Roots students who are active participants in the Black Masking Indian tradition will take part in the celebration with their tribes, highlighting the organization’s deep connection to New Orleans culture.
This benefit concert supports The Roots of Music’s year-round programming, which provides free music education, academic support, mentorship, meals, and transportation to youth across New Orleans. Serving students from early childhood through young adulthood, Roots is dedicated to preserving the city’s musical heritage while creating pathways to opportunity.
“This event is about more than great music,” said Derrick Tabb, Founder and Executive Director. “It’s about investing in our young people and making sure they have the support and opportunities they deserve.”

Tickets: $40 General Admission | $80 VIP (VIP tickets include a dedicated viewing area, two complimentary drink tickets, and a Roots swag bag)
Food + Drink: Food trucks will be onsite. A portion of all proceeds from the bar will be donated to Roots.
