For the 9th time, local rap artist and the MIND behind ‘Mind of Art’ (MOA), LaRixkieGod (Rickie Williams), will provide Port Street with a platform for this edition’s featured artists and vendors.
It was only the summer of 2017 that Williams, a rap artist himself, found himself searching his own city for some kind of artistic platform. He wanted to show the community his talent, his hard work. Frustrated with the lack of outlets, he decided to put his mind to the art and do it himself. He began to curate an event aimed at displaying “the art of all kinds, no discrimination”.
So, what is Mind of Art?
The Mind of Art 9 lineup is mind blowing. The artists set to perform bring another level of bars and flow. Some of the artists set to hit the stage include:
In addition to the performers there is a killer lineup of live painters and vendors. A few include:
Having a communal creative space in a city that thrives on the success of its locals is important. It is a fantastic networking opportunity for any creator. Williams says his ultimate goal is to provide a continuous platform for New Orleans artists, allowing them to better reach their audience and build a fan base within the creative community. He continues to generate exposure for Mind of Art, with hopes of exposure for everyone involved. Without hesitation, it is easy to say New Orleans is home to some of the best underground artists.
Mind of Art 9 is set to take place Saturday, July 28, 2018 at 2120 Port Street. The doors open at 8pm. Come out for the good vibes, music, food and culture.
