New Orleans Rapper Dee-1 on Feeding your Dark Side, and Selling your Soul for Fame [Video Interview]

Dee- 1 is a rapper from New Orleans on a mission. He’s best known or his hit song “Sallie Mae Back” encouraging the youth to explore financial literacy.

He sat with us for an interview and opened up about a lot of things going on in his life. He recently got out of his label deal with RCA Records, and put out a new single “I Know God”. One particular topic that we enjoyed was his approach to acknowledging and controlling your dark side. Everyone has a part of themselves that needs work. Growing is all about facing and overcoming the obstacles placed on you by yourself and others. Dee- 1 definitely went in detail about his thoughts on the topic, and we just had to share it!

Do you feel that rappers compromise their core beliefs to get viewers? Let us know in the comment section.
