Nola native and Retired Pro Player Carlos Wheeler Launches Foundation to Help Kids On and Off the Courts

“Carlos Wheeler Foundation exists to mentor, nurture, empower, prepare, strengthen, build self-esteem and provide opportunities for our youth through basketball.”

Carlos Wheeler is a Nola native and a retired pro player who launched a foundation to help the local community of New Orleans. I-Wheel Carols Wheeler Foundation has made huge impact on the youth, both on and off the court.

Wheeler shares his foundation with us: “We train for life on and off the court and shape future leaders by exposing our youth to new opportunities, equipping them with tools for success, developing their ability to make and sustain healthy relationship connections, offer them the opportunity to learn to be coachable, as well as bringing out their own leadership abilities, and teaching them to take ownership and responsibility of their actions.

We do all of this through high quality coaching, staffing, and volunteers who understand our heart for our youth is to consider their whole person, not just the athlete in them, and generous community partnerships.”

Over the last few years I have been blessed by some of our local businesses who have invested in our children through my foundation.

Some of those include New Orleans Pelicans for game tickets, Tuxedos To Geaux for custom fitted suits, Canal Street Family Dentist for dental checks and cleanings, Who Dat Barbershop for free back to school haircuts, Tulane GreenWave games, Restaurant R’evolution for a fine dining experience, and other supporters that have donated sneakers to our kids, the cash to purchase custom jerseys, and back to school supplies.”

Shout out to the team that helps make this foundation thrive:
